Complications generated by alcoholism
In central nervous system that in the beginning of alcohol use appears to be stimulated by it, is, in fact, severely affected. The person is sedated, the thoughts are affected, he or she is deprived of inhibition, loses the clarity of emotion and judgement, the capacity to speak and coordinate muscles are severely reduced. The alcohol excess disestablishes the brain centers and may produce nausea. After a long period of alcohol abuse, short-term memory has blanks, the person experiences tiredness, the eyes are severely affected. And this is not all. There are also other possible complications.
- The liver is damaged by alcohol in excess and may inflame or develop hepatitis, which can be identified by lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, pain and increased abdominal sensitivity, fever, change of the color into yellow. On long terms, hepatitis degenerates into cirrhosis which is extremely severe and incurable
- The lining of the stomach inflames, making harder to assimilate one of the B complex and other nutrients, which causes gastrointestinal and pancreas problems, in case of heavy drinking.
- Cardiovascular problems, from high blood pressure and cardiomphaty to heart or stroke are generated by excessive alcoholism.
- Glucose is no longer released from the liver, the level of blood sugar decreases and hypoglycemia appears, which can be extremely dangerous for diabetics
- Men may have erectile dysfunctions and women's period can be interrupted by the use of alcohol
- Alcohol is very dangerous for the fetus during pregnancy; it may be born with malformations of physical or developmental problems
- Alcohol increases the risks of fracture and weakens the bones
- The nervous system is affected, so that increases the risk of thinking problem, dementia, or bad coordination of the limbs
- Alcohol can even produce cancer of the colon, liver, esophagus or larynx
Other possible complications are :
- Domestic violence generating divorce
- Risks of arrest for drinking and driving or car accidents that can be fatal
- Problems and low results at work or at school
- Predisposition to lesions
- Higher rate of criminality and suicidal tendencies
